Over the past several months, the international community has focused significant attention on Galapagos. Ecuador’s President Rafael Correa issued a declaration that the conservation of Galapagos is now a national priority for the country. UNESCO is considering placing Galapagos on the World Heritage Site “In Danger” list. Although this news may seem grim, we believe this attention is appropriately focused. Galapagos now demands urgent and radical change in its management and protection.
