Women, we need to be very aware of the seriousness of heart disease in woman. Women ae admonished by Dr. Goldberg the author of the award winning and highly acclaimed book WOMEN ARE NOT SMALL MEN: Life-Saving Strategies for Preventing and Healing Heart Disease And…Now in its fourth year, the Red Dress Awards recognize and honor the foremost experts and organizations who are making a difference in the fight against heart disease in women. This year, we recognized three women who have dedicated their careers to heart disease awareness and prevention. First Lady Laura Bush also made an appearance, accepting a special award from Woman’s Day Editor-in-Chief Jane Chesnutt. And Entertainment Tonight’s Mary Hart emceed the event and picked up her own Red Dress Award. Mrs. Bush’s Remarks The Heart Truth is this: Heart disease is the leading cause of death for American women. It kills more women than all cancer combined. The good news is, though, that with very simple steps, we can prevent heart disease by healthy eating, by getting regular exercise, by maintaining a healthy weight, by not smoking, and by seeing our doctors for regular screenings of blood pressure — we can really prevent heart disease.
